Beautiful, antique map of the West African Coast (Senegambien, Sudan und Guinea) by GW & CB Colton, with an inset of the coast of Liberia. This is an authentic map, originally engraved in 1855, taken from the renowned Colton's Atlas of the World published in 1871. It is an original is NOT a computer reproduction.

See what Western Africa looked like over 165 years ago. Lots of charming, intricate details and contours, including mountains, rivers, lakes and place names. Hand-colored. Verso are details of the population of states and territories in 1870.

Perfect for the historian, map-lover, the curious or just as a conversation starter. Wonderful and rare. Vintage maps such as these make great gifts.
